BWCA Camp Food Breakfast

Campers getting our complete outfitting or food and canoe packages use a camping menu to select their food for their canoe trip. Ou menu provides your group the best in ultra-light freeze-dried food and fresh food. The menu selections are well-balanced, delicious, and easy to prepare, with a variety of fresh and freeze-dried foods.

Important Notes About Making Your Meal Selections

  • If you’re staying in the bunkhouse as part of your outfitting package reservation, we serve you our French toast breakfast in the dining hall for your first breakfast. (If you are not staying in the bunk the night before, we are assume you will arrive after breakfast.)

  • Make one selection per meal. Meals are eaten family style, aka, all group members eat the same menu item at each meal.

  • Select one fewer breakfast and dinner than number of days camping. For example, for a 5 day camping trip, you would select 4 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 4 dinners.

  • We pack an extra snack per person per day, so don’t worry about going hungry! You also have an option for us to throw in instant ramen, popcorn, and/or s’mores for extra sustenance.

  • Beverage choices include coffee (grounds or instant), black tea, hot cocoa, Gatorade, and Crystal Light.

  • If you are planning to fish and enjoy some of your catch, we will pack portions of Crisco and Shore Lunch for a fish fry.

Tips To Lighten Your Food Pack

Food packs are the only pack that get lighter as your trip goes on, but you can keep your pack light from the get-go by following these tips:

  • Forego sugar drinks, such as fruit drink (i.e. Gatorade) and hot cocoa. Choose sugar-free fruit drink (i.e. Crystal Light), or just plain filtered lake water instead.
  • Opt for dried fruit rather than fresh fruit
