Bunkhouse and Breakfast
Bunkhouse
We offer simple bunkhouse accommodations for the night before your canoe trip. The bunks supply twin beds covered with a fitted sheet, electricity, and a dry space for packing. Plan on using your sleeping bag for your night’s stay.
Bunkhouse guests use our centrally located shower house for toilets and showers. Prepare a picnic dinner or just hang out at the picnic benches in the shower house area.
Each of our nine bunkhouse rooms varies slightly in bed configuration and we assign you to the bunk room that fits your group size. Bunkhouses are private to your group, so no worries – you won’t be bunking with strangers!
Note: Check-in time is no earlier than 3 p.m. Most of our bunkhouse guests arrive after hours. We set out a sign directing you to your bunkhouse if you arrive after 7 p.m.
(Call 218-388-2221 to check bunk availability. This information is not posted on our website.)
Breakfast
Most bunkhouse guests join us for our French toast breakfast served every morning in the dining hall at 7 a.m. Available by reservation only, Tuscarora’s breakfast of French toast, fresh fruit, sausage, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate get you “up and at ’em” and fuels you for a long day of paddling. We proudly brew Duluth-based Alakef‘s special “Tuscarora French Voyageur Canoe blend” coffee and make our French toast with eggs from the Locally Laid Egg Company in Wrenshall, MN. Gluten-free and vegan options available upon request at time of reservation.
The dining hall is open from fishing opener to the end of September. We require breakfast reservations by noon the day before.

Canoes
Tuscarora rents a wide range of canoes to fit your group’s particular needs. Most Boundary Waters paddlers opt for one of our ultra lightweight Kevlar canoes. We offer Northstar, Souris River, and We-No-Nah kevlar canoes. These canoes require a little extra care and caution. They must be loaded and unloaded while completely floating, so plan for wet feet.
The following are all included with the cost of canoe rental:
- Life jackets
- Paddles
- Transportation to and from these Boundary Waters entry points: Cross Bay, Larch Creek, Magnetic (Granite River), Saganaga, and Seagull
- Shower and towel at end of trip
